U.S. Navy ROTC Scholarship Challenge!!

Student Chapters, want to make some quick money with very little effort? The top three chapters will receive $600, $450 and $300, respectively. This applies to SHPE Jr Chapters also!! What do you need to do? Very Simple.

Have SHPE or non-SHPE students simply complete all the application requirements for a US Navy NROTC Scholarship. Read carefully, eligible students need to only COMPLETE all the application requirements; they DO NOT need to COMMIT to the US Navy. Repeat, they do not need to commit to the US Navy!!! All that is required is to have a completed application on file. Simple. Nothing Else. No Hidden Requirements.

If a student is selected as a candidate after submitting the application, the student can decide not to pursue the scholarship. Although the opportunity is great – 4 years of paid tuition for a total of $180,000 - there is indeed NO OBLIGATION to commitment just by simply completing the application process.

In other words, this process is like a loan application or credit card application. You can go through the application process, and if you are awarded the loan or credit, you can decide not to take it. And the beauty is you get money out of it, instead of a t-shirt or water bottle; the first 65 students, who successfully completes the application with receive a $50 Visa or Amazon Gift Card. Again, students are not obligating to join the US Navy.

SHPE and AHETEMS are simply trying to provide the US Navy with a pool of applications, from which the US Navy can then offer the ROTC Scholarship.

APPLICATION PROCESS:
  • The application and further information may be found at https://www.nrotc.navy.mil/apply.aspx
  • Release SAT/ACT scores to code 0656
  • Apply to at least three NROTC host colleges or universities
  • Schedule an officer interview
  • Submit high school transcript and teacher evaluation forms

Students who apply for this opportunity MUST send an email to ahetems@shpe.org and indicate the chapter, if any, in which they are a member. Questions, please contact the AHETEMS Office.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • U.S. citizen or naturalized citizen
  • 17 years old by September 1 of freshman year in college (i.e. High School Juniors can apply)
  • No older than 23 years old by June 30
  • Graduate from high school by August 1
  • SAT/ACT Minimum Scores:
  • SAT: 530 Critical Reading (CR) 520 Math
  • ACT: 22 English 21 Math
  • Apply and be accepted to an NROTC host college/university (If previously enrolled in college, may have a maximum of 30 semester credit hours)
  • Students do NOT need to pass physical requirements to apply
DEADLINE:  Students must complete ALL application requirements by January 31, 2010
