Regional Graduate Representative
Esteban LopezIllinois Institute of Technology
Hi! My name is Esteban, and I am proud to be your Graduate Representative for SHPE Region 6. Having just completed my undergraduate degree in mechanical engineering at Illinois Tech, I am not pursuing my Masters of Science degree at the same institution in Mechanical Engineering. My goal throughout my college career has been to help others see their success as they help me see mine. This is why I fulfilled many roles within my university's SHPE chapter, as the organization creates a familia to show by example that all who are willing to work hard can succeed at whatever they desire.
Regional Student Representative
The Ohio State University
Venezuelan born and raised, I have studied in the U.S. for two years now and I will be graduating from the University of Louisville with a B.S. in Industrial Engineering in May 2020. I decided to join SHPE because it provided me with a safe space where I am surrounded by people that have a background common to mine and who also share my passion for the STEM field. I love the opportunities to develop the leadership skills of its members that SHPE provides. As the first Region 6 student representative from Kentucky, I am currently responsible for facilitating the flow of information between the National Team and local chapters, and to help develop the relationships between chapters in the region that are close to each other.
Regional Junior Representative
My name is Andrea Diaz and I was born in California but raised in the Suburbs of Chicago. I am a proud Alum from The University of Iowa where I majored in Chemical Engineering and graduated from in May of 2017. During my time at Iowa I served on the SHPE Iowa Board as Chapter Advisor, President, and Treasurer and served on the SHPE Regional Board as Vice RSR. After graduation, I moved out to the Bay Area to begin my career with The Clorox Company. While living in the Bay Area I had the opportunity to serve on the SHPE SF Bay Area board as Membership Development Chair and became a SHPE Lifetime Member at Nationals 2019. I recently moved back to the Chicagoland Area January 2020 to work for Honeywell UOP in Des Plaines, IL. Although I have never held a formal youth outreach position through SHPE I have been highly involved in outreach through SHPE and other outreach programs/organizations since being a student at Iowa. Most recently I have been volunteering my free time this summer of 2020 tutoring two students in Math and I am always looking for ways to volunteer my time with our youth. For these reasons and many more, I look forward to serving as the SHPE Region 6 SHPE Jr Chair and all that I can learn and accomplish while upholding this position.
